ABSTRACT

Their olive fatigues were barely visible against the brown and green jungle foliage beside the deserted road through the Seven Mountains region, about ten miles in from the South Vietnamese border, 20 miles from the southern coast. Our old French Peugeot was almost on top of them before we realized they were carrying Chinese AK47 rifles and Soviet B40 rockets. The rocket grenades pointed from the ends of five-foot-long tubes hefted easily on the shoulders of the young soldiers.
