ABSTRACT

Nowhere in the civilized world is there as much murder and manslaughter as in the United States. One of the causes for this is the fact that it is very easy for Americans to arm themselves to the teeth. We do not know how the crime statistics of the United States would compare internationally if citizens of other nations had such easy access to weapons. 1 One of the most remarkable aspects of the problem is that it is not even politically possible to require that people register their weapons, let alone have them relinquish their right to buy and keep the most deadly weapons.
