ABSTRACT

In times of yore there lived a rich and powerful king. He had no other children than his lone daughter Blossom, and she was already old enough to marry. And since she was very pretty, kings' sons came from every country to ask for her hand. First one, then another seemed pleasing both to her and to her father, and they would have quickly had a wedding, but her mother said that she was her only daughter and that she couldn't go so easily with just anybody, but only with the one who could sleep by her side three nights through without her disappearing from his side. Now the princes really began to pour in from all sides for Blossom, for it seemed easy enough to them to sleep three nights through by her side. But indeed, no one was able to do it, and each of them lost his head in proper order.
