ABSTRACT

A king had three girls whom he guarded like the eyes in his head. When his muscles had weakened and snow had settled on his head, it often crossed his mind which of his three girls should be queen after his death. It was difficult for him to choose between them, for all of them were fair and he loved them all the same. Finally it occurred to him to appoint as queen the one who loved him the most. He called his girls before him and told them:
