ABSTRACT

The Kwangju uprising was a historic event for our country. It also happened to be a fatal event for me. I covered the uprising in tears, literally, as head of a team organized by Munhwa Broadcasting Company, a commercial TV network. I was with other reporters, as leader of a team. They were Lee Ig Ho, Kim Yong Chol, Chung Dong Yong, and Chon Pyong Guk. When I came back to Seoul, I conveyed to my senior staff, in tears, what I had witnessed in Kwangju, all the stuff we had censored.
