ABSTRACT
Economics used to be called political economy. Economists and others who use economics typically use it to argue for or against certain governmental economic policies which are determined by a political process. Some policies are aimed at what are considered to be economic problems, as one of the few ways the public can deal with problems. In modern industrial economies, government roles are necessarily more important than in a primitive rural economy.
