WhatwasmeantbytheOwnershipObjectioninthepreceding chapteristhechargethatitwouldnotmakesensetoholdaperson accountableforalibertarianactionbecausethereisnobasisby whichaperson'sownershipofsuchanactionmightbeestablished. Bydefinition,alibertarianfreechoiceisnotcausedbysomeprior statesofthepersoninquestion;therefore,thereisnothingabout thepersontowhichonecananchorthechoice.Ifthereisnothing thathappensinthepersontocausethechoice,whatsenseisthere insayingthatitisthepersonwhomadethechoice?Wemayas wellsaythatthechoiceissomethingthathappenedtotheperson asthatitissomethingthatthepersondid.Butifthisistrue,thena libertarianchoiceandtheactionthatfollowinitswakefailto satisfytheOwnershipConditionofmoralresponsibility.
