ABSTRACT

Modeled on the work of the great Greek philosopher Aristotle, the present chapter sketches a map philosophers have used to orient themselves around the enterprise of metaphysics for the past 2,300 years. Paying close attention to the highlighted words and carefully studying the related terms at the end of the chapter will pay great dividends when approaching the formidable task of understanding original texts, or in merely following what is going on in classroom discussions of philosophical issues.
