ABSTRACT

Developing speaking and listening skills begins in dialogue-rich classrooms. Principals and teachers should leverage the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Speaking and Listening to intensify classroom. School leaders should leverage local opportunities for citizenship learning to accelerate communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. School leaders will want to share multiple data pieces from the Collaborative Data Protocol and lead open discussions about aspects of the school and student learning that need strengthening. School leaders must be on alert for emails from marketers with ready-made grant proposals. Collaborative grant work in a school is always a win-win situation. Adding grants to school improvement work empowers school leaders, grant writing teams, and entire schools to make leaps forward. School leaders will want to examine the alignment of grant work with continuous school improvement. Student presentations to community audiences will show results of greater academic, social, and emotional growth.
