ABSTRACT

The whole area is fairly well watered: the Rukuba River in the west and the Delima in the east are perennial streams. In general, the rainfall along the western escarpment may be slightly greater than in Bauchi; and the temperatures slightly lower on the Plateau than on the plains. The average rainfall in Plateau Province as a whole between 1914 and 1931 was 58.43 ins. The monthly average of the mean temperature-recorded at Jos-rises to 77° in March-April, and sinks to 69° in December-January. The highest mean maximum recorded, up to 1934 (the year the Gazetteer was published), was 100° (May, 1929); the lowest mean minimum, 40° (December, 1923).
