Granaries, of which there may be more than one in a large homestead, are, among the above tribes, generally inside the compound, except among the Kusasi and the Konkomba, who build them outside. They are usually cylindrical chambers, from 7 to 10 feet high and 6 to 10 feet in diameter at the base, with a single opening at the top covered with a conical lid of tightly plaited thatch.(2) The Konkomba build tripodal granaries.
