ABSTRACT
This chapter examines higher education teaching and learning in the sciences, highlighting practical work. The review takes into account the nature of science and the scientific community, as well as new technologies which have become more than tools requiring us to change the way we teach. Encouraging self-direction, we create flexible and accessible learning environments, while actively moving the emphasis from content to activities.
