ABSTRACT

Virtual reality accessed through mobile devices, provided a tool to offer engaging modes of interaction and help provide valuable, timely and just-in-time feedback on assessments. The main driver for using virtual reality via mobile devices was pedagogic. The opportunity was taken to explore new processes and practices that underpin assessment and feedback practices in the author institutions and across the wider higher education sector for higher degree apprentices using virtual reality via mobile learning for informal learning, assessment and feedback practices in the workplace. It was identified that higher degree apprentices were suffering from a lack of confidence in relation to feedback and assessment and that students would be happier and more productive in the workplace if they were more confident about their job and subsequent assessment. In a more competitive market, students will be seeking learning and assessment experiences that meet their specific and individual requirements.
