ABSTRACT
This chapter reflects how the Occupational Therapy Intervention Process Model (OTIPM) have been applied in settings with an established occupational therapy role and service. It outlines how this occupation-centred structure was used to guide student placements in a dementia care service in the United Kingdom. The chapter presents how to develop an occupational therapy service and student placements in an inpatient child and adolescent mental health service in the United Kingdom. The service was managed by a private health care provider commissioned to admit clients who could not be successfully placed elsewhere due to their presenting needs. Prior to starting as the principal occupational therapist, the occupational therapy assistants worked as activity coordinators who were managed by the nursing team.
