ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 examines Nurse Jackie in relation to therapy culture, offering a critical examination of therapeutic discourse and the significance of power resistance. Framing the contribution of the actors and scriptwriters, this chapter explores the narrative world of the addict, in relation to trauma and woundedness. The fictional universe of Nurse Jackie is related to the real-life failings of institutions, evident in hospital closures and the wider treatment of nurses in rehab programmes.
