ABSTRACT
When a journalist becomes competent at writing features, then it is time to specialise. Every writer will have their own area of interest. This chapter offers key insight into that journey – whether it’s becoming a specialist feature writer, columnist or reviewer. Although each specialism has different requirements, being widely read and developing a strong network of contacts is a must for all three. It is also prudent to remember that a writer’s job is primarily to inform the reader.
