ABSTRACT

Leadership starts with leading as own. One must pay attention to physiology. This in turn impacts one's own emotions, feelings, thoughts and actions. We must continuously question our own practice and be aware of the dynamic educational landscape. Once should identify their areas for development, we can seek best practice from other teachers, schools and industries. These practices can then be adapted and integrated into their own practices. As teachers with many tasks to complete and many roles to fulfil, one can operate best when they are not working under stress and time pressures. In order to operate predominantly in the quadrant of quality and personal leadership, the most important activity is planning. High performance requires deliberate practice which involves the support of others, acting on feedback and practicing outside of our comfort zones. This chapter focuses on the relationships with people and the most important tasks based on their personal values and the strategic priorities of the school.
