ABSTRACT
The first Global Concept that children need to understand is Change. The world can change in an instant or it can change slowly, but change is inevitable. Change happens and people can do little to stop it. Every generation experiences changes in the world and that is a very real part of life. One of the biggest changes that is predicted is the increase of the world population and a major shift in where people in the future will live. There are many changes for children when a new school year begins. Starting school is a common experience for children all around the world. Students will keep a Global Concepts Journal to record their thoughts and what they have learned about each concept through writing assignments and activities. Students can work individually or in groups to research an event in history that created a major change in the world.
