ABSTRACT

It felt good to be back at the Shelter Island Hotel, listening to the barking seals on the rocks outside my open window in the depths of winter. Quite a welcome change from last year at this time, when I was suffering through both the miserable Minnesota weather and the first failure of my career. I am here in San Diego to finalize my new position with MCCA. I am meeting with Lynn Hollander, the ex-partner at Griffin Consulting, for whom I had worked for nearly a decade, who is now MCCA’s president. We had a basic agreement on title, compensation, and such, and now needed to finish the dialogue about my role and Lynn’s expectations.
