ABSTRACT

I have been very fortunate over the years to have worked in some amazing organizations all around the world. My involvement in the ‘eory of Constraints (TOC) has opened doors to travel and working with people that I could never have imagined while teaching me a great deal about the issues and problems these same people have to struggle with each and every day. In almost all cases, those I met were really keen to see their organization improve. ‘ey had read books such as e Goal (Goldratt, 1984) and many others. ‘ey had seen the case studies from the various TOC conferences over the years and thought that such performance would be just what their company needed. ‘ey then came to the TOC programs that I was running and set out to put their organization onto a real process of ongoing improvement, one that was sustainable, scalable, and replicable. It had to be a process that they could do for themselves, so there had to be knowledge transfer-the skills and the techniques of the TOC approach had to be transferred into the organization for it to be truly successful.
