ABSTRACT

In Chapter 8, the descriptions of the systems model applied in equipment management brie«y touched on the essence of the new changes and trends in the post-maintenance era. In this chapter, the important aspects of the post-maintenance era are explored and analyzed thoroughly to signify that it is indeed an important movement in the history of equipment. As revealed in the history of equipment management, the changing of the phases is typically initiated by environmental changes. As the existing management approaches and practices no longer meet the needs of the new environment, problems and ine”ciencies surface. To Ÿx these issues, new objectives are formed. In other words, the environmental changes impose changes on equipment management goals and objectives. To achieve the new goals and objectives, changes in the other subsystems follow, and a new phase takes form. As such, understanding the objective changes is the foremost step in comprehending the post-maintenance era.
