ABSTRACT

Generally, manufacturing of products is carried out by using equipment such as factories, facilities, and tools, as well as by human work. One direction of equipment development is to mechanize tasks that used to be carried out by people. Production today makes full use of such developments. Development of mass production breaks down manufacture into tasks and arranges these along conveyor lines. This makes mechanization and automation easier. It simplifies the human function and reduces dependency on human skills. In an automated factory, the equipment is in charge of most of the processes. The roles of humans are to check the equipment or administer the production work. Automated manufacturing processes are very different from previous ones because of their very different dependences on people and equipment. These developments result in a relatively greater dependence now on equipment than on highlevel human skills.
