ABSTRACT

The focus of this chapter is on the support strategic decision forecasting (SDF) teams assigned to strategic projects provide in the development of business cases, business plans, performance targets, and dashboards and scorecards. A feasibility study precedes the business case, and it is a preliminary evaluation of a proposed project to determine if it has a good chance to create value. It is the first gate in the decision process that determines whether expanding corporate resources to further assess the project is justified. A good part of the work performed in feasibility studies and business cases is performed by SDF teams in the course of creating long-term forecasts because they can best perform the required analyses.
