ABSTRACT
Some Sexual Attitudes Reassessment and Restructuring (SAR) leaders prefer the model of offering an Advanced SAR, again a term that has no universally agreed-upon definition. The concept of providing a more extreme experience is one that may have merit, for those in sexology who have already attended a Basic SAR and are seeking a refresher course. Similar to an Advanced SAR, a Designer SAR format may be offered. SAR is for the healthy and stable person, not someone fresh out of rehab, coping with a sudden flood of re-activated memories of highly charged somatic or mental traumas, coping with a health/family/personal real-life crisis, or who is there begrudgingly just for the credits. Basic SAR includes six standard components that are tailored according to the unique needs of each audience, as follows: self-pleasure or masturbation, body image, sexual orientation, gender expression/identity, aging, and disability.
