ABSTRACT

BED forces a compartmentalization of the internal world and closes off the truth about who we are, what we feel and need. Ongoing binge eating maintains this divide, keeping us numb to our experience and detached from self and others. Internal Family Systems Theory and the neurobiology of trauma offer critical insight into methods to dissolve this divide. The second practice, POWR, is introduced as a tool for change. POWR invites Pause into presence, Open and allow, Wisely consider, and Respond with care.
