ABSTRACT

Word processors, database managers, spreadsheets, content analyzers, concept mapping programs, automated requirements checkers, and so on are also tools of interest to the requirements engineer. Verification and validation features are an important component of any automated requirements engineering tool. Traceability is concerned with the relationships between requirements, their sources, and numerous other artifacts. A sparse traceability matrix indicates a low level of explicit coupling between requirements. Requirements tools are extremely important in managing requirements information across the lifecycle of a project. DOORS is essentially an object database for requirements management. FreeMind is an open-source mind mapping tool written in Java. FitNesse is an open-source, wiki-based software collaboration tool that provides a framework for building interactive test cases. Wikis are a collaborative technology in which users can format and post text and images to a website. Various mobile technologies such as cell phones and personal digital assistants can be used to capture requirements information in place.
