ABSTRACT
In this introduction to the volume Smartphone Cultures the overarching framework for the book, using cultural studies and the Circuit of Culture, is explained and illustrated together with an overview of the evolution of smartphones and their use in society. The structure of the book is outlined and an abstract for each chapter is presented.
