ABSTRACT
This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of the book. The book offers explorations within particular contexts, allowing the context and the character of the research questions to guide the actual analytical approach. It focuses on the development of the transdisciplinary character of feminist organization studies. The book draws on queer theory to address gender and sexuality, through in-depth engagements with theoretical approaches, such as Butler's, that were developed within the humanities. Queer theory is also well suited to grasping discontinuity, insubordination, resistance and subversion. Paying attention to images, symbols and cultural tropes is crucial for understanding the recalcitrance of gender inequality in organizations. The book explores the understanding of narrative as developed within the humanities and also apply narratives as a theoretical lens, contributing to the field of narrative organizational studies by drawing on insights from gender theory and feminist theory in interpreting and analysing narratives.
