ABSTRACT
The 1950s was a period of euphoric heights and stultifying depths for George. On the one hand he was more rooted than ever to the land and became a cultivator as well as a landowner. On the other hand George began to make a dent in the international world which elevated him to another sphere of experience. Surely the maddening intensity of these days would be unmatched!
