ABSTRACT
Choosing the appropriate makeup, applicators, and application techniques for the various types of makeups can be a challenging process. Cake makeups used for the face and body are available in a full rainbow of colors. Decorative and fantastical designs can be seen in theater and dance performances, makeup competitions, public festivals, and in commercial advertisements. Cake makeup is a highly pigmented, pressed formula for the face and body. It is manufactured in two types: dry and moist. The dry formula such as Ben Nye Color Cake Foundation and Mehron’s StarBlend, and the moist formula such as Kryolan’s Aquacolor and Graftobian’s ProPaint are both activated with water or other liquids. Face powder is generally used to set makeup and to remove any undesirable shine. Face powders are manufactured in pigmented, translucent, and transparent formulas, and in matte, semi-matte, and shimmer surface textures. They are available as foundations, setting powders, and translucent finishing powders.
