ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how to assess personal growth and professional development during an internship experience, how faculty and agency supervisors will appraise you, and how to evaluate an agency site. Assessing the internship experience is an ongoing process throughout the experience. A detailed assessment of an internship will make the experience more meaningful. This process provides an opportunity to focus on personal growth and professional development. Evaluations by agency and faculty supervisors give interns a good indication of their professional and personal progress as well as an index of their potential as professionals in the criminal justice field. Learning how to assess performance is one of the most important skills an intern can develop in an internship.
