ABSTRACT

Software is a critical factor in many aspects of corporate operations. This chapter presents 60 key questions that C-level executives should ask about, to ensure that the software their companies depend upon will be an asset and not a liability to the corporations they control. It also presents 25 targets for improvement that are technically possible. The term "C-level executive" refers to a variety of top corporate executives whose titles begin with the word "chief": chief executive officer (CEO), chief operating officer, chief financial officer (CFO), chief information officer (CIO), chief technical officer (CTO), chief legal officer (CLO), chief security officer, and quite a few more similar titles. The chapter explains 60 of the major software topics that C-level officers should know about, to ensure that the software their companies depend upon will be an asset and not a liability to the corporations they control.
