The general techniques for determining individual pK values in proteins usually depend on NMR,1,2 absorption,3 or kinetic4 procedures. Effects of neighboring groups may be evident in chemical shift influences5–7 or in electrostatic influences on the hydrogen ion equilibria proper.8
