ABSTRACT

Executive summary: The term “continuous development” is fairly recent. See also the DevOps chapter , which also features continuous development. Container development also can be used with continuous development. The concept of continuous development expanded from continuous integration. Continuous development requires a set of supporting tools and methods, including automated testing and an automated integration work bench. Continuous development is somewhat controversial and not always the best choice. For example, it has no place in the development of medical device software such as cochlear implants. Nor is it suitable for embedded software such as automobile brakes and navigation. Continuous development is aimed at internal IT projects and web projects where everything is done at one location, and all personnel are in frequent contact.
