ABSTRACT

Each of the 50 states is in charge of implementing the federal programmes according to local need.

Health care is provided via the federal programmes such as Medicare and Medicaid, military (TRICARE) or Veterans Administration (VA) programmes, and private health plans.9 Medicare covers U.S. citizens 65  years or older and people under the age of 65 years with certain disabilities and patients suffering from end-stage renal disease.10 The programme is composed of four parts: Parts A, B, C, and D. Parts A and B, also known as original Medicare, are administered by the federal government. Part A covers inpatient care, such as hospital and nursing care, while Part B covers ambulatory and preventative care.9 Part D, also known as the outpatient prescription drug insurance, is provided by private insurance companies and covers outpatient prescription drugs.9 In Part C, or Medicare advantage, Parts A and B benefits are provided by a private insurer that contracts with Medicare to provide coverage.9
