ABSTRACT

On pp.33-5, there are some very interesting accounts of figures who briefly arose about 270/883 claiming to be sent by the Messiah as dai, with quotations from these sources.

On pp.92 ff., the author discusses the Druze sect of al-Çakim, who claimed, among other things, to be identical with Jesus the Messiah. On p.100, he says that in the Druze sect, the seven heavens are the seven hidden Imams; in the fifth heaven is Mohammed-el-Mahdi, son of 'Abd Allah, the prophet corresponding to Jesus.
