ABSTRACT
This chapter begins by exploring the research and statistics on sexual offending in intellectually disabled people and the risk factors for offending. Next, information is presented on assessment and treatment of intellectually disabled clients. Finally, the reader is cautioned against interpreting harmless behaviors as potential markers of sexual offense risk. The chapter concludes with a case study of a young intellectually disabled man who is accused of a sex crime.
