ABSTRACT
In 1982, the Italian plastic surgeon Sergio Capurro also wrote about the double-edged needle [6,7].
In 1986, the Japanese surgeons Akira Yahai, Osama Fukuda, and Sinichi Abayashi published their technique of using a curved double-edged needle with the fastener along the center [8]. Two double-edged needles also were used by orthopedic surgeons (meniscus surgery) and plastic surgeons (cleft palate surgery).
