ABSTRACT

Multiple legal issues can occur in the practice of aesthetic and cosmetic dermatology. Although legal considerations can arise in the performance of any cosmetic procedure, they are increasingly seen in the eld of cutaneous laser surgery because of the large numbers of energy-based devices currently being used. A full textbook on health-care law would be required to adequately cover all the legal aspects as they relate to cutaneous laser surgery. This chapter will, therefore, only deal with the most common interaction between cutaneous laser physicians and health-care law-that of negligence.
