ABSTRACT

First-generation biofuels are created largely from feedstocks that have traditionally been used as food, for example, ethanol from corn and biodiesel from vegetable oil and animal fats. However, the extensive use of edible oils might lead to some negative impacts such as starvation and higher food prices in developing countries. However, many researchers agree that nonedible oils are suitable alternatives to edible oils for biodiesel production. Hence, the recent focus is to find nonedible oil feedstocks for biodiesel production (Balat 2011).
