Theranostic Potential of Dendronized Iron Oxide Nanoparticles

The use of dendrimers or dendrons in the biomedical fieldhas been motivated by the many advantages they provide through their tree-like structure:• the conformation and the size can be easily controlled by varying the generation (G) of the dendrimer (or dendron)or the nature and number of peripheral chains. It is then possible to control the pharmacokinetics and biodistribution.• their biological properties may be attributed to a single molecular entity rather than a random distribution as inthe case of polymers.• the dendron generation can be adapted with a nanometer precision to the size of the NPs and thus minimize thethickness of the organic layer.
