ABSTRACT

This chapter describes a new minimum-time minimum-loss control algorithm for induction motors using hybrid system genetic algorithm–particle swarm optimization (GA-PSO) is suggested to obtain high performance, as well as high efficiency, under practical constraints on voltage and current. It provides an overview for the vector control of an induction motor and describes the structure of indirect vector control, and presents PI speed controller and PI current controller tuning algorithm using GA-PSO. The GA-PSO system proposed in for proportional-integral-derivative controller tuning could be easily extended to model other complex problems involving local optimal and global optimal solutions. In optimal search by GA-PSO, a population consists of a finite number of individuals and each individual is decided by an evaluating mechanism to obtain its fitness value. The chapter presents a new minimum-time minimum-loss control algorithm for induction motors using hybrid system GA-PSO is suggested to obtain high performance, as well as high efficiency under practical constraints on voltage and current.
