89Having spent four months in St Lucia, Low now sailed to Barbados, principally to study filariasis on that island, and to confirm Manson’s Amoy finding in a different geographical setting. Bridgetown, Barbados was his base until he returned to England. He briefly visited several other islands, returning to Castries in late 1901. Correspondence to Manson from Barbados began in May.
