ABSTRACT

107The next phase of Low’s Caribbean venture was a stay of about two months in British Guiana (now Guyana) (see Figure 6.1). Here, he continued with his observations on filariasis; the question of the vector for Filaria demarquayi continued to elude him. He also kept records of the diseases he encountered, especially those amongst the indigenous population. Low’s first letter to Manson from Georgetown is dated 13 July 1901.
