ABSTRACT
242Trichogramma spp are very important egg parasitoids for many of the agricultural pests. In this chapter we have tried to gather and compile information available particularly from India. But in a few cases we had to collect it from outside India. In this chapter we have put the list of Trichogramma spp available in India, their rate of release as recommended by National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (NBAIR). Further, identification and taxonomy, biology of Trichogramma spp., use of Trichogramma in pest management of various crops in India like Paddy, Maize, Sugarcane, Okra, Tomato, Brinjal, and Cotton have been discussed in this chapter. We also have incorporated the use of Trichogramma against a very important pest, Asian corn borer in China. Mass production technique of Tricho- gramma spp., in vitro rearing of Trichogramma spp. on artificial host eggs as well as the quality control guidelines for Trichogramma spp. have also been attempted to discuss in this chapter.
