ABSTRACT
232The watershed development project can be successful only if the participa- tion of people is emphasized in all phases of planning, implementation, and maintenance in order to get positive results in the program. We must also carefully analyze three aspects of cost, return, and risks because of their importance in every project. In order to achieve the goals and to fulfill the aspiration of the people, we should have interdisciplinary watershed manage- ment agency in each region/state/district. This agency will be responsible to formulate the projects incorporating various land development/rural uplifting activities, exercise, and coordinate development works. This will help in achieving the watershed development objectives in a speedy and efficient manner.
