ABSTRACT
The three niche polymer technologies have importance because of their potential to help solve future material development projects. The three niche technologies are: Flexipoxy, Hacthane, and Transparent polyurethanes. Flexipoxy was the right material to impregnate alumina particles in a naval weapon application. Flexipoxy formulations were selected as potting compounds for evaluation as a Delco electronics project. They also served as a base to formulate flexible epoxy hot melts conformal coatings, which would cross-link after application to develop needed thermoset properties. Flexipoxies are formulated by using flexible epoxy resins at the 100% level with flexible curatives. Like rigid epoxies, Flexipoxies are good adhesives to a wide variety of substrates. They can be stored as one-component, frozen premix compounds for 6 months or more.
