ABSTRACT

Hacthane 100 thermal transfer adhesive was unique, that is, it was non-outgassing, made a stable frozen premix adhesive, was thermally conductive, had excellent dielectric properties, and worked as well or better than the out-gassing adhesive, it replaced. Hacthane 110 potting compound represented the best compound for an air bag sensor potting application. An extensive formulation improvement project was conducted over a 2-year span. Hacthane 115 was the optimized result. Hacthane 121 was developed for Radar Systems Group as part of a Hacthane IR & D project. Hacthane 121, a slower curing version of Hacthane 120, was characterized in order to input its properties into a computer simulation program. The adhesive had favorable results. Hacthane 303 was developed for the Hughes Radar Systems Group as a flow-under adhesive. An earlier adhesion improvement study taught that the epoxy resin Cardolite NC-547 added to Hacthane 110 improved its adhesion to polybutylene terephthalate plastic.
