ABSTRACT
Working in the field of materials technology is definitely a multi-disciplinary work. An materials and process (M & P) engineer needs to understand the applications, where a material is to be used as well as how the material is processed in the manufacturing application. He/she thinks in terms of material properties, which are important to different applications. Manufacturing process engineers are a kind of M & P engineers, who are focused more on how to process a given material in an optimum manner than they are on the choice of the material. Usually, the design engineers have already dictated what materials will be used, so it is up to the process engineer to optimize the process and work with manufacturing to implement the process. Some M & P engineers mainly focus on assisting design engineers in picking the right material for the application.
