ABSTRACT
Most of the companies possessing laboratories and competent formulators regard their lab time is very precious. They look at it from the standpoint, that of the various projects that they could be working on, which one will bring the biggest return for the time and money invested. Compound suppliers usually provide property data on their products, but their data sheet may not contain all the property data that formulators need to determine that they have a conforming product. Formulators may decide to try to develop the sought-after compound internally. Formulators have the lab equipment and the formulating skills, so an internal development program may be the wisest course. Concentrate on finding formulations, which can pass the hardest requirement. The other ingredient, a polyol, usually has flexible polymeric chains between the reactive ends of the molecule. So the greater the polyol percentage in the formulation, the softer the resultant material will be.
